Doubts and some perspectives for the future of the WRC

During the Canary Islands Rally, several meetings took place behind the scenes to discuss the future of the WRC. The presence of FIA Technical Director Xavier Mestelan-Pinon provided insight into the 2027 regulations, while uncertainties remain regarding the name of the next promoter, Hyundai's choice for 2026 and beyond, and the emergence of new players.

Disputed in the Canary Islands, the 4th round of the season did not offer intense suspense for the victory or even for the podium annexed by Toyota. The weekend was, however, interesting from a political point of view. All parties involved: the FIA, the manufacturers and the promoter have burning issues to deal with, with one outcome that should be common: ensuring that the WRC get better. If these three actors sometimes have too much of a tendency to turn against each other
