Elfyn Evans, in commanding form, retains the lead of the Rally Sweden despite a tricky Saturday afternoon and is now preparing to defend his position on a final day that is expected to be technical.

Still in control of the overall standings Rally Elfyn Evans of Sweden won only one stage on Saturday, conceding a few seconds to his pursuer, Takamoto Katsuta. The previous day, the Japanese driver had briefly relegated the Welshman to second position, before Evans regained the lead in the first stage of the morning.

Elfyn Evans, however, did not simply defend his position and expressed his disappointment with the second loop on Saturday. Elfyn Evans now appears truly poised to secure his second consecutive victory at the Rally Sweden. Currently second in the World Rally Championship, he must also absolutely capitalize on the absence of Sébastien Ogier to collect as many points as possible in order to aim for the title this season.
