Eliott Delecour before Sweden: "To have as much fun as possible"

This week, the young man is discovering the Swedish Rally, which is run entirely on snow. A real challenge for François' son, who is coming off a promising Monte Carlo Rally despite his first experience with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

Eliott Delecour before Sweden: "To have as much fun as possible"

Eliott, how did your reconnaissance trips go?

Great! The terrain varies enormously between all the stages, and we really noticed that during these two days of reconnaissance. Some stages have more snowbanks, others have big changes of pace… It will be a new experience for me on snow; I love driving on gravel, and although it's different, there are similarities. We're here to gain experience, we're in the right place, and the primary objective will be to finish the rally. rallyIn any case, from what I saw during the reconnaissance, I can't wait!

It's quite a challenge to be starting out here!

Yes, there are many factors to consider… For example, in some long corners, we'll sometimes have to use the snowbanks to stabilize the rear of the car, and it's a very specific approach. Again, we're here to gain experience but also to have as much fun as possible. It's a new high-speed challenge, and some sections of the rally remind me of what I experienced in Romania at the beginning of my career.

Many WRC2 drivers are starting their season here, there will be some serious competition…

It's difficult to judge where we'll stand against these drivers, as for many of them, this isn't their first time competing in Sweden. Some were here last year, others have even competed several times, so with a rally that's 70% identical to last year's, that definitely plays a role. We'll see where we stand at the start of the rally, but I'm hoping to gradually pick up the pace.

Among these drivers is Mattéo Chatillon: keeping pace with him would be a great reward, wouldn't it?

Of course, but let's not get carried away: Mattéo was here last year and he knows the terrain. Admittedly, he wasn't in Rally2, but he had a car equipped with four-wheel drive. Renault Clio. He'll be able to use that experience. However, I obviously want to follow his lead, and it will certainly be interesting to compare our respective gaps. There are also many drivers of my generation against whom I'm curious to see where I'd stand; it's going to be a great rally!
