Kalle Rovanperä and the WRC, it's almost over. The Finnish driver will leave the World Rally Championship at the end of this season to move to the circuit, where he will compete in Super Formula starting next season.

Team Director of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT driver Jari-Matti Latvala has spoken about his driver's career choice.

« Kalle has already enjoyed a remarkable WRC career with Toyota Gazoo Racing, becoming the youngest winner of a rally in the history of the championship, then the youngest world champion, and winning the drivers' title twice " said Latvala.

« Given his impressive career and young age, it's only natural that he'd want to take on a new challenge while he has the chance. We've seen racing drivers try their hand at rallying, but we've rarely seen the opposite: a rally driver taking to circuit racing and trying to challenge the best, especially in carTGR believes in helping drivers achieve their dreams, and I don't think many manufacturers can offer a driver such an opportunity, which is very exciting for both parties. Kalle, along with Jonne (Halttunen), has played a big part in our team's success in recent seasons, and with three rallies to go, I know he'll definitely want to finish his rally career as a world champion – even though he already has two. His teammates, too, are desperate to win. We'll miss his arrival in our team, but TGR is working hard to develop talented young rally drivers, and we can be confident we'll have a strong line-up in 2026 and beyond. »
