Simple stage of preparation or harbinger of the season to come? The stable M-Sport announced Monday the participation ofAdrien fourmaux at the Jänner Rally (January 5-7), in Austria, with a Ford Fiesta Rally2 from the team ZM Racing team. Officially, the British team details this presence of the Frenchman on the Austrian event to “prepare for the 2023 season”, without specifying the Northerner's program.

Is this a preparation for the season with M-Sport in Rally1… or in Rally2? Adrien Fourmaux is far from having convinced during the previous campaign WRC with Richard Millener's team. Accidented on numerous occasions, at fault on multiple occasions, the Frenchman was deprived of participating in three of the last four rounds of the championship, in Greece, Japan and New Zealand. Thus, his future with M-Sport in Rally1 seems compromised, and the 27-year-old driver could go down a level in 2023 to enter Rally2.
The places within the British team would then be taken by Pierre-Louis Loubet and Gus Greensmith, in addition toOtt Tänak, while Sébastien Loeb could make a few appearances with the Ford Puma during the season.
