Start of the week, Hyundai Motorsport had, through an enigmatic post on its social media, hinted that its 2026 livery of the WRC It was expected to be similar to last year's. However, this is not the case: the team has just unveiled the colors its Hyundai i20N Rally1 will sport next week at Monte Carlo (January 22-25). The communication strategy was meticulously crafted for the occasion, as after Tuesday's initial post, a rather muddy Hyundai i20N Rally1 was revealed yesterday, and it was during a car wash that its livery was discovered. While the dominant colors are obviously still blue and orange, there is a new addition: a patchwork design incorporating black on the hood, roof, and lower door panels. The sides of the car also feature large "Nürburgring" and "Namyang" decals alongside the "N" logos: the manufacturer is reminding everyone that it was in the Korean city that its high-performance "N" label was conceived and launched, and that its legacy continues in the Green Hell, as demonstrated by Hyundai's recent expansion of its facilities there. It remains to be seen whether these will be clearly visible in the WRC with the addition of the various mandatory decals…

New season, new ambitions for Hyundai

In 2026, five drivers will share the three Hyundai i20N Rally1 cars: the regular drivers Thierry Neuville et Adrien fourmaux will be aiming for titles and personal victories when Hayden Paddon, present at Monte Carlo, Dani Sordo, and Esapekka Lappi share a third car entered so that the team can maximize its opportunities to score points in the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers. While Neuville won the drivers' title in 2024, the team failed to secure the teams' trophy, losing to... Toyota who had been better in this exercise. 2025 was a disappointing year for Hyundai despite two victories.Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville: the troops of Cyril Abiteboul they fully intend to make up for it in 2026, starting with the Rally Monte Carlo, which the Belgian had notably won against Sébastien Ogier in 2024.
