After a complicated start to the season, Kalle Rovanperä has started the Safari Rally Kenya 2025 off to a good start. At the foot of the mountain known as the "Sleeping Warrior," the Finn woke up to a Shakedown benchmark time of 4:34.5 on his first run around the 5,16-kilometer course.
Rovanperä beat the three Hyundai, with in order: Thierry Neuville, Ott Tänak et Adrien fourmauxTakamoto Katsuta finished fifth, ahead of the first official Ford, Grégoire Munster. Elfyn Evans only set the seventh fastest time, ahead of Joshua McErlean.
After getting out of the car, Neuville revealed that the drivers of the WRC will limit their comments at the end of the stage this weekend to protest against the €10 fine imposed on Fourmaux for swearing during the Rally Sweden last month.
« We will communicate very little this weekend., declared the Belgian. We are disappointed not to have had more contact with the FIA since Sweden and Adrien's fine. We unanimously decided not to communicate at the finish, except at the end of the longest special stage. »
