Ambitions, like expectations, were high. Ten days after the end of Monte-Carlo, frustration and bitterness still float in the heads of Mattéo Chatillon and Maxence Cornuau, vice-champions of the WRC3 world in 2024. Having gone off the road on the first special stage on Friday, the French crew racing under the colours ofAlpine Racing quickly had to give up. We decided to make a slightly more aggressive choice than everyone else at the start of this second stage., explains Mattéo. We were 42 seconds behind the race leader after the first three special stages, we had lost time on Thursday evening and so we wanted to break the deadlock.

The rush, the risk, the fear of wasted time. You have to go crechendo on a Monte-Carlo. The winning WRC3 crew approached the rally well and gave up a little time on some special stages when the time was not playable.
