The start of this Rally of Kenya, the first in 19 years, took place smoothly near Kasarani, not far from the capital Nairobi.
In this SS1, contested in the form of a super-special, it is Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) who distinguished himself as the fastest driver. The seven-time world champion completed the 4,84 kilometer tour in 3'21"5.
The Frenchman leads a 100% Toyota trio completed by Kalle Rovanperä (+0“3) and Elfyn Evans (+0“7). The pilots Hyundai, Ott Tänak et Thierry Neuville, occupy the last two positions of the Top 5.
Established at M-Sport instead of Teemu Suninen, Adrien fourmaux simply ensured by limiting the damage. The native of Seclin, near Lille, finished in a discreet 10th place, 9” behind his compatriot.
Sébastien Ogier therefore logically takes the lead overall after this first special. It should be noted that this SS1 has no impact on the starting order. The Gapençais, leader of the championship, will sweep the road this Friday.
A nice start to #SafariRallyKenya for the team with @SebOgier leading a #YarisWRC 1-2-3 in the Kasarani super special
