After two seasons of missed appointments due to the pandemic (cancellation in 2020 and 2021), the rally Japan returned to the top flight in 2022 after a 12-year absence. This season, for the 3e edition the round will be decisive for the Drivers, Co-drivers, Constructors titles, but also in WRC2. It will again be based in Toyota City which is located just over 300 km west of the capital Tokyo.
Before the launch of this meeting, WRC Promoter and the organizers have agreed to extend Japan's participation in the WRC. A new 3-year contract has been signed, which guarantees Japan's presence until 2028. While there are serious questions about the quality of the grid that will be assembled in 4 years, it is however certain that the host city will still be Toyota City. As its name suggests, this city holds an important place for the Japanese manufacturer.
Toyota Stadium will serve as the nerve center and the stages will once again be set in the mountainous prefectures of Aichi and Gifu that surround Toyota City. With the inclusion of Saudi Arabia at the end of the calendar, Japan will no longer be the season-closing round, but it will remain special with its asphalt course.
