Sami Pajari lined up in Chile and Central Europe on the Toyota Yaris Rally1

It was in the pipeline, but no one wanted to confirm it during the Acropolis Rally. Sami Pajari and Enni Mälkönen will participate in the Chile Rally (September 26-29) and the Central Europe Rally (October 17-20) at the wheel of a Toyota Yaris Rally1. The secret was well kept, or the decision was made very recently. At the end of the rally From the Acropolis, Jari-Matti Latvala said that there was a 50% chance of seeing Sami Pajari again in the Toyota Yaris Rally1 by the end of the year. This will indeed be the case.

During his first experience in Finland, he managed to set a better time and finish in a nice 4th place.e place helped by the racing facts, it is true. The young Finn will be able to perfect his learning of the category by evolving again with this car during the next two rounds in Chile and in Central Europe. At Toyota, it seems that there has been an awareness during the last meetings. The disastrous Greek result pushes the team to make decisions to prepare for the future.

Katsuta on the sidelines in Chile

In Latin America, Sami Pajari will take Takamoto Katsuta's place alongside Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä. The break granted to the Japanese is supposed to allow him to come back stronger in Central Europe. However, it is not certain that this sidelining will have the desired effects...

This does not concern Sami Pajari anyway, who will have the opportunity to discover two rounds that will still be on the calendar next year. In Chile, it is clear that it will be more complicated than in Finland where he had an excellent preparation. It will be a good test to measure his level of performance and his ability to learn. It’s great to have the chance to return to Rally1 for two more events this season.”, enthuses the 22-year-old.

“It’s really nice to know that TGR-WRT trusts me. Rally Finland was like a dream come true for me and after that, of course, I wanted to drive a Rally1 more and more, but I couldn’t have expected the opportunity to come back so soon. I’m so looking forward to Rally Chile, with beautiful gravel roads, mostly flowing and fast, much like in Finland. Central Europe can be even more demanding, given the wetness and mud we saw last year. It will be my first time on asphalt in a Rally1 and it will be quite a challenge, but I’m very happy to take it on.” »

In Concepcion, Sami Pajari will meet the other hopeful Martins Sesks who will be racing in a Ford Puma Rally1. However, it will be difficult to compare them, as the Latvian will be racing without a hybrid. The Rally Chile consists of 306,76 km of timed stages and 16 special stages.
