Solberg makes remarkable entry into WRC list of winners

By winning in style in Tartu, Oliver Solberg made a remarkable entry into the World Rally Championship statistics. Sweden had not shone at this level since 1997, and the newcomer to the club is the 81st driver to record at least one victory. This is undoubtedly only the beginning.

So far, in the table of winning drivers in WRC, there was only one Solberg. Now there are two. We will have to wait a little longer before Oliver catches up with his father who stopped at 13 wins, but after such a demonstration… The son has already done better than his father who had to wait until he was 28 to win his first trophy. Oliver is not even 24 years old and therefore has plenty of room to carry the name of this family, so special in this sport, ever higher.

This triumph allows Oliver to be the 11e Swede to win at this level. He joins big names like Stig Blomqvist (11), Björn Waldegård (16) or Kenneth Eriksson (6) who was until now the last Swede to have won in WRC. This dates back to rally New Zealand 1997 with an official Subaru Impreza WRC.

Oliver will also remember that he is the one who brought the 100e victory of Toyota in the WRC. Once again, he joins a group of famous drivers like Didier Auriol, Carlos Sainz and of course Sébastien Ogier.
