Rally Sweden – Leaders close to victory in WRC2 and JWRC

Despite its length, the 2nd stage of the Swedish rally had no impact on the evolution of the classification in the two categories. Oliver Solberg still dominates WRC2 and Mille Johansson perfectly controlled the proceedings in Junior.

Saturday was the day with the most timed kilometers in the program since 7 special stages and 125,5 km were planned. With a lead of 29 seconds over Georg Linnamäe, Oliver Solberg did not allow anyone to disrupt his day. Author of 4 of the 3 best times, the Swede was never worried. A moment 7e in the general classification, it logically fell back with the return of road conditions in which the Rally1s can express themselves. Little affected by this situation, Petter's son focused on his own category to eliminate any suspense. His opponents, from Sami Pajari to Mikko Heikkilä via Lauri Joona and Roope Korhonen, were in any case too irregular to claim victory. If the latter seems promised to Oliver Solberg, the runners-up are far from being awarded. There is only 0''2 between Linnamäe 3e and Pajari 2e while Korhonen (19''8 from the podium) has not yet given up. The situation appears clearer in JWRC.

By setting three best times during the day, Mille Johansson easily contained all her rivals. Showing consistency, the Swede managed to build up a lead which doubled compared to Friday evening. Like the day before, Romet Jürgenson proved to be the strongest protester. The Estonian is the only one to have managed to stay in contact (55'' behind anyway!), while all the other competitors are relegated much further.

Three special stages are still on the program tomorrow, i.e. 61,08 km timed.
