Sébastien Ogier, who had a six-second lead at the start of the Power Stage, lost the victory at the wire by two tenths against Ott Tänak ! The Frenchman suffered a puncture in the last special stage of the rally and gave the Estonian his first victory of the season. This is the smallest gap ever recorded in WRC, tied with the 2011 Jordan Rally (0″2 difference between… Ogier and Latvala)! Dani Sordo completes the podium.

  • Leader of the rally since Saturday, Sébastien Ogier then controlled his lead ahead of an offensive Ott Tänak: on Sunday morning, the gap had fallen from 17 seconds to 6 seconds before the Power Stage. The pilot Toyota was heading towards a 5th victory in Sardinia, before encountering this terrible mishap in the last kilometers… “Puncture. I can't do much, observed the Gapençais. It's not a rally, it's like cross-country. I can't do much. That's life, I think we deserved more than that, but Ott also had a good rally. »
  • After his first podium in Portugal, Ott Tänak won his first victory of the year, his 20th in the WRC. The Estonian also signed a very good operation in the championship: with 25 units registered, the driver Hyundai is the driver having gleaned the most points and is getting closer to the leaders in the Drivers' standings.
  • Thierry Neuville saved the furniture in Sardinia, after his accident on Saturday in SS8: the Belgian scored all possible points this Sunday with a full card (7 points from the Super Sunday, 5 points from the Power Stage). In the championship, Thierry Neuville (122 points) remains 18 points ahead of Elfyn Evans (104 points) and Ott Tänak (104 points).
  • Weekend to forget for Adrien fourmaux : after his retirement on Friday, the Frenchman only scored three points in Sardinia. “The rally was difficult for us. We can be satisfied with our pace on Friday and Saturday, confided the pilot M-Sport. I wanted to have a good rally for our friend who unfortunately left us last week. I'm sure we'll come back. »
  • In WRC2, it was Sami Pajari who won after dominating the event head and shoulders with his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. At the end of a spectacular comeback from 15th place on Saturday morning, Yohan Rossel finished in 2nd place in the category and increased his lead at the top of the championship. With 78 points, the Nîmes driver now has a 23-point lead over his new runner-up Jan Solans, 3rd in the Sardinia Rally in the WRC2.

In the end, how many points for the winner on the wire of this Sardinia rally compared to those who came out the day before and were able to score points during the Super Sunday and/or the Power Stage? Is the winner the one with the most points? To be checked
