Vincent Landais: “We knew that sooner or later reliability would take over”

Sébastien Ogier's co-driver, Vincent Landais, enjoyed another victory for the duo this season in the WRC, after a success at the Rally Portugal.

What do you remember after this victory?
"I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's a pleasure we never tire of. When we start a race, it's to try to win it, so when we do at the end of a weekend, we can feel like we've accomplished our mission."

Wasn't that an easy success to achieve?
“The victory was difficult to achieve. It's clear that we lacked pure speed compared to Ott and Martin. In terms of risk management, however, I think that tipped in our favor. We knew that sooner or later reliability would prevail because the conditions were very difficult. It's been a long time since I've seen roads as destroyed as during the second runs. Even for us, it wasn't very pleasant inside the car. You always think that if you keep hitting things, it's going to break eventually... but reliability paid off.”

Ogier and Landais imposed themselves in front of the Hyundai byOtt Tänak, against which they had to fight throughout the rally. Kalle Rovanperä completed the podium with another of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 entered in Portugal. This allows the Finn to close in on championship leader Elfyn Evans. For his part, Ogier climbs to third place in the drivers' championship, all despite having taken part in only three of the five rallies so far this season...
