Winner of Rally After Sunday's rally in Sweden, Elfyn Evans took the lead in the World Rally Championship following a near-perfect weekend in Umeå. The Welshman scored 34 out of a possible 35 points, missing out on victory in the Power Stage by a mere seven hundredths of a second to a... Thierry Neuville who saved the honor for Hyundai.

Evans now holds a 13-point lead over Oliver Solberg, winner of the Monte Carlo Rally at the start of the season. On home soil, the young Swede had a difficult day on Friday, opening the road, and dropped as low as sixth place overall. He managed to climb back up to fourth and score 17 points over the weekend. Takamoto Katsuta moved into third place in the championship after securing another podium finish in Sweden.

Absent from the Swedish Rally, Sébastien Ogier is now 42 points behind Evans. The Frenchman will only participate in ten of the fourteen rallies this season, but that doesn't stop him from aiming for a tenth world title, which would be a record in WRCWRC2 winner Roope Korhonen joins Léo Rossel at the top of the standings with 25 points. As a reminder, in this championship, each driver must select seven rallies on which they can score points throughout the season.
