Will the Rally2 category soon welcome a new model? According to various sources, this is indeed what should happen in the coming days, as official information will be released very soon. After the Skoda Fabia RS in 2022 and the Toyota Yaris in 2024, the top floor of the pyramid of the FIA should be enriched with a new car that will confirm that this regulation continues to be attractive. It allows manufacturers like Citroën or Skoda to be present at the world championship without having to make an official commitment.
This should continue in 2026 before 2027 perhaps changes the approach since the Rally2s should be in the same category as the new WRC27s and will perhaps be able to aim for the podium. In the meantime, it seems certain that the C3 will bow out.
Appeared in the opening car at the rally du Var 2017, the C3 was first an R5 before becoming a Rally2 with the change of name of the category in 2021. In the national championships France, Italy…), but also in WRC2 the car will have left its mark on the discipline. To replace it, there were several candidates within the Stellantis group which brings together many brands.
Some clever people dreamed of seeing a Classic Ferrari for sale Rally2, but this should remain a fantasy. A study of the programs followed by the manufacturers belonging to Stellantis allows us to say without too much error that this Rally2 should be a Lancia Ypsilon. Despite the veracity of the rumor, Stellantis preferred not to comment, but on the other hand there is no denial regarding the arrival of this new model which should bring a boost to this category.
