A Super 2000 World Cup from 2010?
While the current World Rally Cars will still be entered during the World Rally Championship in 2010, a World Cup could be launched next season for crews entered in Super 2000.
Under the leadership of Malcolm Wilson, who is currently developing a Ford Fiesta Super 2000, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile could announce the creation of a World Cup reserved for Super 2000s as part of the World Rally Championship.
This World Cup could be open to drivers and teams. These teams would also be included in the manufacturers' ranking of the WRC.
The proposal has already received the blessing of ISC, global promoter of the World Rally Championship.
This could do great harm to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, a year before the technical revolution announced in the WRC. It remains to be seen how this category could integrate into the World Rally Championship events with the presence of Super 2000 in P-WRC for two seasons and the current small form of the J-WRC.
