Getting closer to its audience for its fiftieth edition: that's how the organizers of the Rally the Canary Islands, which will host the WRC For the second consecutive time in its history, the event will take place next April, and the organizers, who have also extended their contract until 2029, had been planning their race. The route was unveiled this week, at least in principle, providing a clearer picture of the program for the island round. Unlike last year, the rally will begin on Thursday afternoon at the legendary Circuit des Îles Canaries, a first in many years. Valleseco – Artenara (15,27 km), La Aldea – Mogán (21,42 km), and Tejeda – San Mateo (26,05 km) will be the three special stages, each to be run twice on Friday. The organizing committee has redesigned some of last year's timed sections to involve local municipalities more closely. In fact, the routes have been slightly modified to pass through the heart of some towns and villages, further satisfying local rally enthusiasts.

Some new features for the last two stages.

The longest stage of the rally, Moya – Gáldar, a 28,90-kilometer stretch to be run twice during the day, will take place on Saturday. Two other stages of just over 13 kilometers each are also on the day's program: the well-known Maspalomas stage and the Arucas – Firgas – Teror stage. A 3,12-kilometer stage through the heart of Las Palmas, specifically near Santa Catalina Park, will also be part of the route. It's true that with the rally's start moved to mid-afternoon on Thursday, it won't be possible to enjoy last year's magnificent opening ceremony at nightfall: this is therefore an opportunity to bring the festivities back to the center of the capital. Finally, two new special stages will be offered to competitors on Sunday to conclude the rally: Ingenio – Valsequillo, 26,49 kilometers long, and Santa Lucía – Águimes (13,27km), which will also serve as the Power Stage. As a reminder, the Canary Islands Rally will take place from April 23rd to 26th. This will be the fifth round of the 2026 WRC and the penultimate one on asphalt.
