Monte-Carlo: Yohan Rossel logical favourite in WRC2?

While the list of Rally2 entrants is enticing, the list of drivers aiming for points in WRC2 is disappointing. Among the twenty or so competitors registered, Yohan Rossel seems to be the one who has all the qualities to secure another victory in the Principality.

Reading the list of entrants for the 2025 Monte Carlo is misleading. Once again… This is often the case in this category where not all the registered crews lined up to score points in WRC2. When the list of the 93e edition was unveiled, the presence of boys like Oliver Solberg, Fergus Greensmith or Nikolay Gryazin among the 31 Rally2 announced promised a great battle for the first place. It finally turns out that none of the three will fight for the WRC2 championship this year during the Monte-Carlo, which is very regrettable.

Once the list of names who have ticked the Monaco event among the 7 races on which they can score points has been refined, Yohan Rossel and his co-driver Arnaud Dunand are the big favourites. Winner of the last two editions in WRC2, the Gardois has all the arguments with the C3 Rally2 and the PH-Sport team to add another trophy and perfectly start his season. There are not many who have the experience of the Frenchman and his main rival should be Éric Camilli who will start the new Hyundai i20 N Step2. Behind the two French drivers, Charles Munster (Hyundai i20), Roberto Dapra (Skoda Fabia) and Maxime Potty (Skoda Fabia) will try to stand out from the crowd, perhaps aiming for the podium.

The absence of several big guns should create opportunities for competitors who can take advantage of this opportunity. This will be the case for Matthieu Margaillan (Skoda Fabia), Jan Cerny (C3) or the beginners Léo Rossel (C3), Pablo Sarrazin (C3) and Sarah Rumeau (C3). The rally will start tomorrow with 3 special stages starting at 18:05 p.m. for a start of 54,16 km.
