Less than seven seconds separate the three leaders of this Rally from Sweden, after a day where it looked like Elfyn Evans was taking control of the event. A mistake on a crossing during the last special of the day cost him precious seconds, which saw Katsuta and Neuville come back in his wake. The Welshman maintains the advantage but mistakes will be forbidden this Sunday, with two passes in the 30 kilometers of Västervik, and the ten kilometers of the Umeå special, which will also be the Power Stage.
The top 3 took the lead over the Hyundai byOtt Tänak, fourth at 12″8 but plagued by cooling problems throughout the day. Remaining silent or almost at each stop point, the Estonian allowed himself to give a semblance of an explanation at the finish of the last special of the day: "You have to ask the engineers, they can explain what happened much better than I can. We try to do the best we can with what we have. With the tools at my disposal, I can't win at the moment, that's for sure."
The two former world champions are the only remaining triggers for Hyundai in the general classification, Adrien fourmaux having been forced to retire following an exit from the road in SS13. The Northerner was fighting for the podium, but a wall of snow sent him to the side of the road, and he remained stuck there. We bet that he will come back with a knife between his teeth with his co-driver Alexandre Coria, to try to get the ten points available in the Super Sunday this Sunday.
Fifth, Kalle Rovanperä continues to not feel 100% behind the wheel of his Toyota Yaris, whose balance doesn't particularly suit him. Behind him, Martins Sesks and Sami Pajari put on a show and fight for tenths, special stage after special stage. In WRC2, Oliver Solberg continues to lead the way with 39 seconds on his closest pursuer, the Finn Roope Korhonen.
The last day of this Rally Sweden starts at 7:27 tomorrow morning, the show is likely to be there!
