During the Monte-Carlo, it was surprising to note the absence of the Toksport team in the Gap service park. The structure based in Germany on the Nürburgring circuit had stood out in recent years by simultaneously lining up several Skoda Fabia Rally2 for Andreas Mikkelsen (world champion in 2021 and 2023) Emil Lindholm (titled in 2022) or more recently Oliver Solberg, Nikolay Gryazin and Fergus Greensmith. The last three mentioned were indeed present at the Monte-Carlo, but none of the three were entered in a car from this team.
During the off-season, Oliver actually preferred to join the Finns of Printsport to have a Toyota Yaris Rally2, hoping to get closer to a Yaris Rally1 from Toyota Gazoo Racing. For his part, Fergus explained during this first meeting that he had chosen to call on the Spanish guys from RaceSeven in order to have people essentially focused on his car and his requests. During the event where he did not score any points (like Solberg), Gus said he was satisfied with the work and the atmosphere before revealing that he would be at Safari. Coming off a successful campaign with a C3 Rally2 (3e of WRC2), Nikolay was unable to continue with Citroën and turned to Team Delta Rally with whom he had already raced at Monza at the end of last year. Also out of the championship during the Monte-Carlo, he has not revealed the extent of his participations in 2025, but the 27-year-old Bulgarian will certainly return to other WRC2 rounds. Will he stay with Delta? Will he return to Toksport? If so, he will team up with Robert Virves who is joining this entity for a full programme in this competition.
Titled Junior in 2022, the Estonian who will be 25 on July 8th had a complicated year in 2023. The rounds won with the Ford Fiesta Rally2 did not allow him to shine (9e in Sweden, accident in Portugal and Finland, cooling problem in Greece…). By choosing his four events last year (Sardinia, Poland Finland Acropolis) and racing this time on a Skoda Fabia Rally2 notably at RaceSeven, Virves managed to display good performances (3e in Poland). They offered him the opportunity to become one of the players in the upcoming season. Robert will be present in Sweden (February 13-16) with a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 where he will be integrated into Toksport, which will also take care of Fabrizio Zaldivar. If the Paraguayan will aim for points in WRC2, this will not be the case for Virves, who will wait until Portugal to do the same.
