Sébastien Ogier after his victory in Finland: “I would have preferred to finish 2nd! »

Sébastien, what is your feeling with this 61e success in your career?

It's hard to smile right now. Of course, a victory in Finland is always nice, but it's not what we wanted. I'm really sorry for Kalle (Rovanperä) and Jonne (Halttunen). They had incredible pace throughout the weekend and it seems like they were unlucky with this stone, but that's the rally. We recently lost the victory in Sardinia due to bad luck. Today we had some success. It's motorsport.

Is it strange to feel such feelings after a victory?

It sure is weird. I can only say that I have no joy within me. Maybe that will come later. It was still in Finland, one of the rallies that everyone absolutely wants to win…

The Yaris once again seemed formidable on this terrain…

The team delivered an extraordinary car and dominated the entire weekend. Kalle and Jonne were in another category. I feel sorry for the team, because we deserved a much better outcome. I evolve in WRC long enough to have experienced a lot of outcomes and emotions, and I've often been lucky enough to be on the right side of the equation most of the time, but not today. This ordeal was brutal. Too much for my taste and honestly, I would have preferred to finish second.

Will you decide in the coming weeks to participate in all the rounds to aim for a 9?e world title?

I feel like I'm going to have more and more pressure to make this decision. To be frank, I don't yet have this desire in me, at least not as much as the people around me seem to have. This particularly comes from this point system which is a joke. It devalues this championship even more. There will be a winner in the end, but will it be the one who deserves it? No one knows.
