This weekend (May 15-18), the sleeve WRC Portugal marks the start of a series of seven consecutive gravel rallies. The program includes fast, bumpy, and sometimes technical roads, a surface that can change over the course of each round, and potentially high temperatures that can put cars and drivers to the test.

At Toyota, we're approaching this fifth round of the season with confidence. And for good reason: the Japanese team has won the first four races. This includes a resounding quadruple on the asphalt roads of the Canary Islands a few weeks ago. This should comfortably secure them the provisional lead in the constructors' standings.

On the Portuguese roads, the firm will enter no less than five cars, including that of the eight-time world rally champion, Sébastien OgierHis presence was beyond doubt, as this event suits him perfectly. Indeed, fifteen years ago, in 2010, on this same track, the Frenchman won his first WRC victory.

Ogier: "I've always loved Portugal, a rally with a unique atmosphere and lots of fans"

But he didn't stop there. In fact, he holds the record for victories in Portugal, with no fewer than six in total. The last of which dates back to... last year. "We're back on dirt after a long absence, since Chile last October. The car and the tires have evolved a lot since then.", he explains in a press release published by Toyota.

"But I'm lucky to be surrounded by a great team and my teammates. I hope we can keep this momentum going.", he says. So, inevitably, ambitions will be there this week. “I have always loved Portugal. It is a rally with a unique atmosphere and lots of fans,” admits the French pilot again.

“It was nice to finally get my sixth win there last year and it would be great if we could repeat that result.”, finally assures Sébastien Ogier.
