Luca Marini was born on August 10, 1997, in Urbino, Italy. The half-brother of Valentino Rossi, he grew up in a motorcycle-focused environment and followed in his elder brother's footsteps by joining the Italian junior competitions. He made his Moto2 World Championship debut in 2016 as a reserve rider, before earning a full-time seat in 2017 with the Forward Racing team.
In 2018, he joined the Sky Racing Team VR46 and began to make a name for himself by securing his first podium finishes. He claimed his first Moto2 victory in 2019 and became a serious contender for the title. In 2020, he had a solid season with three wins and several podium finishes, finishing runner-up behind Enea Bastianini.
In 2021, he moved up to MotoGP with the Esponsorama Racing team on a Ducati, but he had to adapt to the premier class and finished his first season without a podium finish. In 2022, he joined the VR46 team, created by Valentino Rossi, and progressed steadily, achieving several top-place finishes.
In 2023, he confirmed his potential by securing his first MotoGP podium and becoming a more competitive rider. Thanks to his consistency and hard work, he was recruited by the official Honda team for the 2024 season, with the aim of taking the Japanese brand forward.
Although he does not yet hold a world title, Luca Marini has shown great progress in all categories and remains a rider to watch in the coming MotoGP seasons.
