Bastianini joins the circle of drivers doubly crowned in one weekend

Bastianini, 5th rider to be doubly crowned in a GP - Ducati Corse

In Great Britain, Enea Bastianini defeated Jorge Martin twice, to win both the Sprint and the main race. A double success which was its first since the introduction of the Sprint format, at the start of the 2023 season.

Before him, four pilots were able to do it. The first to have achieved such a feat is called Francesco Bagnaia. The No. 1 was quick to do so, since he won the first Sprint in history, in Portimao (Portugal), before winning on Sunday. Jorge Martin did it a few rounds later, becoming the second double winner in one weekend, at the Sachsenring (Germany).

Aleix Espargaro joined this very exclusive club in Catalonia the same year. He thus became the first non-Ducati rider to do so, notably taking advantage of the setbacks of Pecco Bagnaia. Victim of a violent highside at the start of the Sunday race, he was run over on the leg by Brad Binder.

Finally in 2024, Maverick Viñales became the fourth driver to reign over an entire weekend of competition at the Grand Prix of the Americas.

If the last two cities have only achieved it once, just like Enea Bastianini who has just had the honor of climbing onto the top step of the podium twice at Silverstone, the other two have several achievements.

Engaged in an intense fight for the title, both in 2023 and 2024, it has become usual to see Bagnaia and Martin fighting for victory. However, it is the reigning champion who currently records the most perfect weekends, with a score of five. Second, Jorge Martin has so far done it four times.
