Hampered by numerous injuries last season, the 2024 world champion hadn't fully lived up to Aprilia's expectations, especially given Marco Bezzecchi's significant improvement. He had even considered a move to Honda in the summer of 2025, before the team rallied to retain him for the 2026 season. It is now imperative for the Madrid native to return to his best form for the Noale-based manufacturer, which has already secured its priority by extending the contract of number 72 and is already planning for the post-Martín era.
