A week after winning his ninth world title in Japan, Marc Márquez ended his weekend in a less than encouraging manner. Having been tangled up with by Marco Bezzecchi at the start of the Indonesian Grand Prix, the Spaniard quickly revealed that he was in significant pain in his right arm, the one he has suffered so much from since his crash in Jerez in 2020.
After asking for help removing his left glove and helmet, the Spaniard was taken to the medical center. His team confirmed a few minutes later that he had suffered a small fracture to his right collarbone. It appears that his ligaments were also affected.
"Following his crash today in Mandalika, Marc Márquez has suffered an injury to his right collarbone. The Spanish rider will travel to Madrid (Spain) this evening to undergo further medical examinations and decide on the treatment to follow." Ducati communicates at the end of the race.
Marc Márquez's curse in Indonesia continues, as he has never finished a race at Mandalika since the circuit was introduced to the calendar in the 2022 season.
The length of his absence is therefore not yet known, while the next event on the calendar will take place in two weeks, in Australia, at the Philip Island circuit. Marco Bezzecchi, responsible for the world champion's crash, is expected to receive a penalty for the race that will take place there.
