The partnership between VR46 and Ducati will gain momentum next year. Three years after its debut in the premier category, the team of Valentino Rossi has just announced that it has found common ground with the Bologna factory to become the satellite team that the brand will support.
Contrary to the agreement that Borgo Panigale had with Pramac Racing before his departure to Yamaha, VR46 will only have one official motorcycle during the next campaign. The team's second driver will be equipped with the Desmosedici GP24. Ducati technical staff will, however, be present.
“I can only be proud to announce that from next year. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 team will be the team supported by Ducati in MotoGP, rejoices Alessio Salucci, director of the independent structure. We will be on the right track with an official bike and a GP24. If they had told us a few years ago that we would get such a deal, I would not have believed it. »
“It’s a really important moment for the whole group. To have achieved this result in just three years, with a young team, with so many guys with us since Moto3. It's something extraordinary. I would like to thank everyone who works on the team. The partners too, in particular Pertamina Lubricants, Ducati and Gigi Dall'Igna. Thank you for believing in this project. And to have succeeded today in making it take on another dimension as it deserves. We have demanding years ahead of us, full of challenges. We look forward to putting ourselves to the test and trying to achieve ambitious results. »
It remains to be seen which drivers will be fielded at VR46 in 2025. While the team will also have to make a choice regarding the driver who will have an official machine. Given the link he has had with Ducati since the start of the current campaign, it would seem logical that the latter would be entrusted to Moto2 rider Fermin Aldeguer.
As for his future teammate, it is rumored that Franco Morbidelli is leaving for Pramac, with the aim of joining the young Spaniard at VR46.
