Gerrard Xie joins DAMS and completes the Formula 3 grid

It had been anticipated for several weeks, and now it's official: the third DAMS driver in Formula 3 Gerrard Xie will be named for the 2026 season. For the Chinese player, this will be his second year in the role.

The 19-year-old, who won the Chinese F4 championship in 2022, has not achieved particularly impressive results since. In 2025, he joined the F3 grid with Hitech, scoring just one point and finishing 29th in the championship.

Xie will team up with Nicola Lacorte and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi. The three will try to deliver better results for DAMS than in 2025, when the team finished last in the Teams' Championship with 30 points. The Formula 3 season will begin in Melbourne, Australia, from March 6th to 8th, coinciding with the start of the Formula 1 season.
