At 25 years old, Kush Maini will be among the oldest drivers on the grid. Formula 2 in 2026. Behind Ritomo Miyata (1999), he belongs to the 2000 generation, alongside Colton Herta and Nicolas Varrone. Maini will certainly be the most experienced of the "veterans" on the grid, with three seasons already under his belt.
Having joined Campos in 2023, the Bangalore native finished 11th in the league before concluding his second season in 13th place, this time with Invicta, the team of champion Gabriel Bortoleto. Finally, his third year was even less successful, with only a 16th-place finish with DAMS.
Despite these average performances, Kush Maini will remain in Formula 2 for a fourth consecutive season, this time with ART GP. The French team has placed its trust in the member of theAlpine Academy, who drove on Tuesday, December 9th in post-season testing with the team in Abu Dhabi.
"Kush has shown great speed and remarkable maturity in Formula 2, and his victory in Monaco perfectly illustrates his potential.", praises Sébastien Philippe, director of ART GP. "We are delighted to welcome him to ART Grand Prix and look forward to collaborating with him in 2026."
"I am delighted to join such a prestigious team as ART Grand Prix.""That's great," rejoiced the Indian. “My initial discussions with the engineers and mechanics have been very positive. I appreciate their determination and the team spirit within the team, and I look forward to starting to work with them and seeing what we can achieve together.”
In three seasons, Kush Maini achieved a prestigious victory in Monaco last May, taking advantage of the reverse grid in Sprint to win from pole position in the first race of the weekend. He became the first Indian to win in the category.
