Preparations continue for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, which will take place on May 24. As has been the tradition in recent years, the "May" begins with two days of testing in April, allowing drivers and teams to make the most of the four official track days leading up to qualifying. With 33 entries this year, the qualifying weekend will be less stressful for a large portion of the field, as there will be no risk of being eliminated and thus missing out on a starting grid position.
It is said, however, that the road to the bottle of milk promised to the winner in May often begins with the Open Test, and this was the case last year for Álex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing), who set the fastest time in April, then won the Indy 500 a month later.
