2016-2017 Formula E World Champion Lucas di Grassi will retire at the end of the current Formula E season, which concludes in London in mid-August. The news was officially announced on Thursday, April 30th, via the official social media accounts of the championship and the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), as well as those of di Grassi himself.

Passed by the Formula 1 In 2010 at Virgin Racing, the Brazilian driver had switched to... car 100% electric from the start of the series. Without interruption, the 41-year-old has participated in all the seasons organized since, first with Audi Sport ABT, a team which took the name ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport at the time of its crowning four years later, then with ROKiT Venturi Racing (2021-2022), with Mahindra Racing (2022-2023), with ABT CUPRA (2023-2024) and finally, since 2024, with Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E Team.
In 2013, Lucas di Grassi also participated in 24 Hours of Le Mans aboard the number 3 Audi R18 e-tron quattro alongside Marc Gené and Oliver Jarvis, the trio finished third. Lucas di Grassi had also distinguished himself in recent years by personally investing in the Roborace project, which aimed to launch a fully autonomous, driverless single-seater series.
