As Mahindra prepares to take part in the twelfth season of the championship Formula E (on December 6 in São Paulo, Brazil), the Indian manufacturer confirmed its intention to participate in the next era of the 100% electric championship, which will begin at the end of next year.
There was some uncertainty surrounding Mahindra's presence next season, and especially how that presence would materialize. The manufacturer's management had considered becoming a customer team or adopting a hybrid approach, with part customer team and part manufacturer team. Ultimately, Mahindra will continue with the same formula used since Season 3.
R. Velusamy, head of Mahindra Racing, emphasized the importance of a Formula E commitment for the brand. This commitment extends until at least 2030, the year in which the championship could establish a... car fifth generation, or extend the lease of the GEN4.
“Formula E is a powerful platform for innovation in new technologies, allowing us to experiment, learn, and advance the efficiency of electric powertrains, sustainable materials, and software intelligence. As we enter the GEN4 era, our ambition only grows. Continuing this journey until 2030 demonstrates our faith in the sport, in electrification, and in India’s role as a global leader in sustainable mobility. We are proud to champion this future, and GEN4 represents an exciting new chapter for Mahindra Racing and the Mahindra Group.”
This season, the two drivers who will represent Mahindra will be Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara.
