Martinius Stenshorne arrives in Formula 2 with Rodin

He was a sensation in Baku, before losing everything. Martinius Stenshorne had a fantastic weekend in Azerbaijan with Trident, a team that had only scored two points so far. The Norwegian showed some very good things, but was ultimately forced to retire in both races.

Despite everything, the prospects glimpsed caught the eye of Rodin Motorsport, who hired Stenshorne to drive in Formula 2 in 2026. “I am delighted to join Rodin Motorsport, rejoices the pilotThis is an important step in my career and I thank the team for their trust and support. I can't wait to get to the start of the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi and give my all on track for the upcoming season!"

Before his stint at Trident in Baku, the protégé of McLaren had played the season of F3 with Hitech. A successful season, finishing in fifth place in the championship with two wins and three second places. His performances convinced Benn Huntingford, sporting director of Rodin Motorsport.

“Confirming Martinius as our first Formula 2 driver for 2026 is an important step for the team. He has shown speed and maturity throughout his junior career, and his debut in Baku clearly demonstrated his potential. Formula 2 represents a significant challenge, but we are confident he has the ability to adapt quickly and achieve strong results. We look forward to supporting his development and working with him to take him forward.”

Rodin has not yet announced its second driver, while the New Zealand team is hiring Amaury Cordeel this season and especially Alex Dunne, a McLaren protégé like Stenshorne. The Irishman, as brilliant as he is messy, is not expected to win the title this year and should logically spend a second year in F2. Why not return to Rodin, to create a McLaren duo like what Red Bull at Campos with Pepe Martí and Arvid Lindblad?
