Zak O'Sullivan will not complete the 2024 season Formula 2. The Briton, currently 13th in the championship with two victories to his name – including the most prestigious in the Main Race in Monaco – announced on X (ex-Twitter) that his campaign is ending with immediate effect. The reason: a lack of funding to finish the season.
“First of all, I would like to thank ART GP and Williams Racing for all the support they have given me, wrote the protégé of the British team. This year we have had some incredible moments, with multiple victories and a highlight, the victory in the Monaco race. Unfortunately, in our sport there are more factors at play than just the stopwatch. The simple question comes down to funding, I will not be able to finish this F2 season with ART GP.

“I am disappointed that I will not be able to showcase my talents for the rest of the year, but I would like to thank all my sponsors, Williams Racing and all the fans who have been with me during this adventure., he adds before ending by talking about his future. Your support has been invaluable and I look forward to being able to drive for you and with you again soon. What’s next? We’re working on it with Williams Racing through the academy, and we’ll see what happens. But the support here has been incredible to see at the moment. Thank you all.”
Zak O'Sullivan will therefore not be at the start of the next round in Baku this weekend (13-15 September), and ART GP must find a replacement for him alongside Victor Martins.
