The 19-year-old Australian will make his debut in F2 this weekend, in the two races held on the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan. He will then finish the season with the events in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, replacing Roman Staněk, who has driven for Trident for the last three seasons. Mansell has been racing for ART Grand Prix this season in Formula 3. This early debut can be seen as a full-scale audition for a place in the 2025 championship peloton, at a time when the various seats are being decided.
« J 'looking forward to making my F2 debut with Trident Motorsport”, said Christian Mansell. "I am extremely happy to have the opportunity to race with the Italian team on the Baku street circuit and in the next two rounds before the end of the season. It will be a baptism of fire to make my debut on a demanding track like this, but I must admit that I am more impatient than nervous!"
Christian Mansell will now be the only driver in F2 to compete despite having Type 1 diabetes. In order to be able to monitor his glucose levels at all times, Mansell is allowed to take his phone with him in his car, and this in all championships governed by the FIA.
