While Freddie Slater (Mumbai Falcons) won the first round of the championship by taking the lead in the standings with a 26-point lead over Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), the duel between the two drivers continues. The Englishman continued his momentum during the first qualifying session by taking pole position for Race 1 (this Wednesday at 13:15 p.m.) at the Tricolore in 1'41″586, a comfortable margin of 0"435 over his runner-up.
When second qualifying session Giltaire responded by setting the fastest time (1'40″953) which will allow him to start in the lead in Race 3 (this Thursday at 19:35). As for Slater, he only set the fifth fastest time, overtaken by Brando Badoer, Rashid Al Dhaheri and the winner of the last Macau GP, Ugo Ugochukwu. The grid for Race 2 on Thursday (at 16:10) will be defined by the reverse top 10 of Race 1.
Third overall after the first round, Théophile Nael (Saintéloc) was less visible during qualifying. The Frenchman had to settle for 8th in Q1 and 10th in Q2. The other Frenchman involved, Enzo Deligny, had a session quite similar to that of Nael (12th and 6th).
