Just over two months after the last round in Azerbaijan, the Formula 2 resumed its course on the Qatar side where the final sprint of the 2024 season begins. On a track almost unknown to most of them, the drivers took their time before gradually raising the game.
As the improvements continued, it was Paul Aron (Hitech GP) who positioned himself at the top of the standings with a best lap of 1'38"024. The Estonian, who is not yet known whether he will be on the F2 grid in 2025, beat the championship leader and future Sauber driver in F1 Gabriel Bortoleto (Invicta Racing). However, the gap is not really representative since the Brazilian finished more than 6 tenths behind Aron.
The interruptions in the last third, like the red flag caused by Luke Browning (ART Grand Prix), prevented some riders from getting closer to the top of the standings. Isack Hadjar (Campos) for example did not reach the Top 10, finishing 11th at 1“6. For his part, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) was well placed with the 5th time at 0“9 from Paul Aron.
