Kamui Kobayashi was the fastest in the third and final Free Practice session of the 24 Hours of Daytona on Friday. The Japanese driver set the benchmark time of the session in 1:36.380 at the wheel of the Cadillac V-Series.R n°40 of the Wayne Taylor Racing team. He was ahead of the Frenchman Mathieu Jaminet (Porsche n°6) by 0.484 seconds and René Rast (BMW n°25) by 0.647 seconds.
Toby Sowery set the benchmark time in LM P2 at the wheel of the #07 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca 04 in 1:38.392. The Briton beat Nicklas Nielsen (#07 AF Corse Oreca 88) by 0.254 seconds and António Félix da Costa (#07 Inter Europole Competition Oreca 43) by 0.320 seconds.
Shane van Gisbergen was the fastest of the GT field, with a best lap of 1:47.998 in the #06 Trackhouse Racing Corvette Z3 GT91.R. Teammate of Frenchmen Maxime Robin and Valentin Hasse-Clot in theAston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo No. 19 of van der Steur Racing, Anthony McIntosh was the fastest in GTD with a time of 1:48.387.
