The 2024-2025 season of the Asian championship will begin with a double meeting in Malaysia. Of the 42 cars, 10 will be in LM P2, 7 in LM P3 and 25 in LMGT3.
Algarve defends its title
Reigning LM P2 champions Algarve Pro Racing return with two cars in the class. The new European champion Le Mans Series LMP 3 driver Michael Jensen will join fellow Dane and reigning Asian Le Mans Series LM P2 champion Malthe Jakobsen and Italian Valerio Rinicella in the No. 25 Oreca.
2 ALMS LM P2023 Team champions DKR Engineering will also return with a single entry, with multiple LMP3 champions Laurents Hörr and Job van Uitert joining Greek driver Georgios-Periklis Kolovos in the No.3 Oreca-Gibson. 2022 champions Nielsen Racing will also enter a single entry, with 2022 Drivers’ champion Matt Bell joined by Nicky Catsburg and Naveen Rao in the No.24 Oreca-Gibson.
The reigning champions ELMS LM P2 Pro-Am François Perrodo, Matthieu Vaxiviere and Alessio Rovera will be looking to add another title to their CV with AF Corse. The Italian team will run two cars in LMP2, with Olivier Pla alongside Americans Patrick Byrne and Jeremy Clarke. Proton Competition also fields two cars in the Asian Le Mans Series, with Jonas Ried, Mathias Beche and Paul Lanchere in the #11 Oreca and Giorgio Roda, Vlad Lomko and Tom Dillmann in the #22.
The Sepang 4 Hours will mark the first LMP2 appearance for RD Limited, the team led by Romain Dumas. 2 ELMS LM P2023 champion James Allen will team up with Fred Poordad and Tristan Vautier in the #30 Oreca-Gibson. Defending champions GT Pure Rxcing move up to LM P2 this season, with the #91 Oreca-Gibson backed by reigning ELMS LMP2 Team champions TF Sport. 2023-2024 ALMS GT champion and new GT3 champion in WEC, Alex Malykhin, will race this season with British rider Harry King and three-time ELMS champion Louis Delétraz.
