David Coulthard and Mark Webber have two things in common. They both drove for Red Bull Racing en Formula 1, the Briton between 2005 and 2008 (71 GP), while the Australian made 127 starts with the Red Bull between 2007 and 2013. Second similarity between the two men: they will be at the KENNOL Grand Prix de France historique next weekend at Castellet (April 25 – 27).
But a third boy, also a Red Bull veteran, will also be on track in the Var region. Daniil Kvyat will be competing in Masters Historic Racing at the wheel of a Group C vehicle. The cars in this group were produced between 1982 and 1993 and took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and at the championship ofEndurance.

The Russian will be driving the Spice SE89C #009 ATS. While the model was entered in competition between 1989 and 1993, this particular chassis competed in the 24 1990 Hours of Le Mans and won the C2 class with Richard Piper (Great Britain), Olindo Iacobelli (Italy) and Mike Youles (Great Britain) at the wheel. In 1991, the car tried its luck at Le Mans again with Iacobelli, Piper and Frenchman Jean-Louis Ricci in place of Mike Youles. The trio unfortunately did not see the finish of the race after qualifying 8th.
Daniil Kvyat, who moved to F1 between 2014 and 2017 and then in 2019 and 2020, has competed in 110 Grands Prix. He raced his first season at Toro Rosso before being promoted to Red Bull in 2015. After an average first season, he only had three races at the start of 2016 before being demoted to the B team in favor of Max Verstappen, winner in his first race in Spain. Kvyat returned to Alpha Tauri for two seasons in 2019 and 2020, his last year where he largely suffered the law of Pierre Gasly.
