Rexy with a world champion in Long Beach

Change of drivers and category for Rexy. The famous Porsche 911 GT3 R No. 77 with dinosaur livery, victorious at the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 15 in the GTD Pro category with Laurin Heinrich, Klaus Bachler and Alessio Picariello will compete in the nextIMSA, that of Long Beach, with a brand new duo since they are Jonny Edgar and Laurens Vanthoor, world champion ofEndurance with Porsche and also victorious in Florida with the German manufacturer, who will be at the wheel. The car will be entered on April 11 and 12 in the GTD category. This change of category is explained by the absence of the GTD Pro class at the Californian round.

« Long Beach is a very special event, and it's unfortunate that it's not on the GTD Pro calendar., said team principal Gunnar Jeannette. Many Rexy and AO fans expressed their desire to see Rexy race on these iconic streets, and life has found its way! Thanks to our full-season drivers competing in a GT World Challenge race, we were able to recruit fantastic drivers to take their places in Laurens and Jonny. A big thank you to PJ Hyett, Porsche Motorsport North America, and everyone involved in making this unique GTD race a reality for Rexy and AO. »

« I'm really looking forward to driving the famous Rexy, said Laurens Vanthoor. The Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of my favorite events on the IMSA calendar. The atmosphere is always great, and the event is truly special. I know some of the AO Racing members from the Porsche RSR program, and I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of the team. I hope we have a great weekend. »

For Jonny Edgar, this will be a first in a car from the German manufacturer. I'm really looking forward to racing in Long Beach with Rexy., rejoices the Briton. I'm really looking forward to driving a Porsche for the first time, and for my first time at Long Beach. It's an exciting event, and I think it would be really cool to share the car with Laurens. I think we have a good chance of winning the race. »
