Usually contested over two one-hour rounds, the Michelin Le Mans Cup's support event for the 24 Hours of Le Mans is being reduced to a single three-hour race.

Road to Le Mans moves to a three-hour format

From a single 55-minute race in 2016, Road to Le Mans has evolved to now become an almost obligatory passage for young drivers hoping to have a future in Endurance, and evolve on the Circuit des 24 Hours of Le MansAfter having been contested for a long time over two one-hour races, the event will become a single race, still supporting the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but lasting three hours.

“The Michelin Le Mans Cup will be ten years old next year”, notes Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest. “Over the past decade, this competition has proven to be an essential step in the quest for excellence in this discipline. The quality and variety of the circuits provide an exceptionally competitive environment for teams and drivers to climb the endurance ladder towards the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship. The three-hour race on the Circuit des 24 Heures is an important step on this journey.”
