While the front of the field emerged unscathed from the first chicane of the 4 Hours of Barcelona, Jonas Ried spun out in the #9 Proton Competition Oreca 07. The German driver was hit by two LMP2 Pro/Am drivers, Georgios Kolovos (#47 CLX Motorsport) and Krinton Lentoudis (#27 Nielsen Racing). Behind them, the LMP3 cars couldn't even make it through the first chicane, and three drivers also retired, including Paul Lanchère in the #17 CLX Motorsport.

Given the extent of the damage, race control displayed the red flag to evacuate the various cars involved. The race is expected to restart at 12:27 PM. Starting from pole position, Bijoy Garg continues to lead the pack in the #34 Inter Europol Competition car, which Reshad de Gerus brought to pole position on Saturday.
