Two other destinations were considered by the championship. There was a possibility of including Buriram in Thailand on the 2025/26 calendar at the end of November, but unfortunately, a date suitable for both the series and the circuit could not be found. The Mandalika circuit in Indonesia was also considered as an alternative, but the necessary improvements to bring it up to the safety standards required for Le Mans Prototypes could not be guaranteed in time. Both circuits could be included on the calendar for the 2026-2027 Asian Le Mans Series season.
« The Asian Le Mans Series has demonstrated the strength of its foundations in recent years, declares Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). The calendar is stable, the circuits are renowned, and the championship is an excellent springboard to higher goals. For the best in LMP2 and GT, the ALMS also opens the door to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We look forward to joining our competitors at Sepang in December to kick off another great season. »
« After a very successful season which saw 47 registrations for the final round in Abu Dhabi, we were considering taking the series to Thailand or Indonesia next season, adds Frédéric Lequien, General Director of Le Mans Endurance Management and Asian Le Mans Endurance Management. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, it has been decided to maintain the same format that has proven successful over the past two seasons and has been well received by teams and sponsors. »
« The facilities at all three circuits on the calendar are unrivalled, with Sepang hosting the Grand Prix MotoGP of Malaysia, the technically challenging Dubai Autodrome circuit where drivers love to test themselves and the magnificent setting of Yas Marina, which hosts the final race of the 2025 season Formula 1. »
« The 2025-2026 calendar was also designed to avoid the important dates of Chinese New Year and Ramadan, as well as the conflict with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2026. »
« Going forward, we will continue to work with staff in Buriram and Mandalika to explore the possibility of including one or both in 2026/27. »
