The weekend IMSA at Road America would be the perfect time for Renger van der Zande and Sébastien Bourdais to take their second victory of the season behind the wheel of the No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R.
Van der Zande and Bourdais enter the 2-hour, 40-minute August 4 race having been on the podium in four of the last five races, including finishing second at the final meeting at Watkins Glen. They are second in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) standings with three races remaining in the season behind the Porsche n°7 by Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr.
« There are only three races left in the championship race, so hopefully Road America will be one step closer to that goal " Bourdais said. “ We did a good job of being consistent and scoring points, and we'll have to stay consistent and focused. »
Van der Zande has reached the podium three times in a row (2020-2022) with Cadillac Racing, but victory in the main prototype category eluded him each time. “ The podiums are good. Wins are what we need, that's why we come to Road America said van der Zande, who has had at least one victory in each of his 11 seasons in IMSA.
47 cars are expected this weekend at Road America.
