Death of Tony Dron

Briton Tony Dron died in mid-November at the age of 75. A former pilot converted into a tester for various publications across the Channel, the native of Surbiton in the suburbs of London had notably competed three times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the turn of the 1980s. We will particularly remember a victory in Group 4 in 1982 (13th overall) aboard a Porsche 934 shared with Richard Jones and Richard Cleary.

Still with Porsche, but in the company of a 924 Carrera GTR, he rose to fifth place in the Nürburgring 1 Km on the Nordschleife in 000. In 1982, he had the opportunity to drive the legendary Mercedes Benz 125 W1937 at Donington (pictured above).
