With one week to go until the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona, the first day of the Roar this Friday saw two manufacturers stand out: Acura in Free Practice 1 through Tom Blomqvist in the No. 60, then BMW in Free Practice 2 through Dries Vanthoor in the No. 24.
The Belgian set the best time of the day in 1:35.424, four tenths better than Blomqvist's time set a few hours earlier. Acura took second place in FP2 with the ARX-06 driven by a former member of the propeller firm, Nick Yelloly, 0.195 seconds behind the best time.
It is obviously difficult to predict a real hierarchy in view of the Florida classic next weekend, because with ten practice sessions before the start of the race on Saturday, January 25, no less than ten driving sessions are on the program. Everyone therefore has their own schedule while taking great care not to reveal their entire game.

Cadillac and Porsche have remained discreet for the moment in terms of times, but the V-Series.R n°40 of Wayne Taylor Racing was the most assiduous on track during this session with 34 laps covered.
In LM P2, the reference time of the second session was set by Mikkel Jensen at the wheel of the Oreca 07 n°11 of TDS Racing in 1:39.047. Reigning champion of theIMSA In GTD Pro, German Laurin Heinrich set the fastest time in this category in 1:47.775 with the Porsche 911 GT3 R n°77 of AO Racing.
