On the occasion of a special day, Carlos Sainz bids farewell to Ferrari on the Fiorano circuit, a legendary track on which all the house models have been tested for over 50 years. A family farewell since Carlos Sainz Sr., double world champion WRC, was also there. Equipped with racing outfits, Sainz father and son took their places on board the F1-75 of 2022 for some relays.
After a quick briefing, it was Carlos Sainz Sr.'s turn to drive with Ford in rally-raid and defending champion on the Dakar, to make his debut in a car Ferrari, some 3 years and 324 days after his son, who arrived in 2021 at Maranello. Although he had already driven a Formula 1 car some 1 years ago, the rally champion struggled to find his feet, spinning a few times before finding his rhythm. Carlos Sainz Jr. was invited to reclaim the car that gave him his first Formula 2022 victory at the British Grand Prix at Silvertone in XNUMX. What followed was a few father-son laps that felt like a farewell parade.

After 88 Grands Prix, four victories and 25 podiums, Carlos Sainz will join Williams in 2025. The announcement of the arrival of Lewis Hamilton within the Scuderia, at the beginning of February, had left him without a seat for the coming year before being courted by several other teams. Which did not prevent him from performing throughout his last year with the Prancing Horse team. And the Italians returned the favor: for this high-end "farewell party", the Sainz duo went from modern to historic. After the F1-75, they got behind the wheel of a 735 LM which took part in the Mille Miglia and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A symbolic car since the model dates from 1955 and the Spanish driver's race number is n°55. The day ended with a group photo with the team, which the Sainz family wanted to associate with Charles Leclerc and Frédéric Vasseur.

A truly high-end "farewell party"... Ferrari style! Bravo to Frédéric VASSEUR, who is certainly behind this more than original farewell.
